Charlie Davies

My brain refuses to function on a high enough level to give you anything substantial today, so I will simply pass along news...

Charlie Davies is departing for France, per his Twitter feed, something that appeared to be coming sooner rather than later with his recent transfer.

After playing so well at the Confederations Cup, Davies is now headed for the next chapter in his young career; the hope for USMNT fans is that Davies gets ample playing time in France, continues to grow and improve, and is a major threat at forward when South Africa 2010 rolls around next year.

With both Carlos Bocanegra and Davies now in Ligue 1, it would appear that the league will see more American attention than usual during it's upcoming season.

The question now becomes, who steps up to replace Davies as the only pure goal-scoring threat at forward that US has had in the Gold Cup?
